For more than 30 years, Sr. Karen McNally, Chief Administrative Officer,
has worked at Stella Maris, Inc. Sr. Karen lists the many reasons she
enjoys working at Stella Maris from the life lessons learned and the
wisdom gleaned from the patients and residents to working with our
competent and caring staff.
About the staff she states," So very many have
inspired me". Employees have opportunities everyday to make a difference in someone
else's life.
Since each employee is a vital part of the team, it is important that we always support one another. Don't give up on the
patients. The little touches make someone's life or day a little better
and you will be blessed.

Mercy Spirit Award Recipient
What would cause someone to travel more than 3,000 miles away from their family and friends in Dublin, Ireland? According to John McLoughlin, Director of Volunteer Services, the opportunity to work at Stella Maris. John began his work here as a Mercy Corps volunteer 9 years ago. Feeling immersed into the Mission of Stella Maris, he felt drawn to the Hospice unit where patients are treated as more than just a symptom but rather as a whole person. Since his voyage here, he has had the opportunity to use and develop his skills and talents to successfully implement several outreach programs and develop Stella’s pool of volunteers. John’s advice for anyone looking to work at Stella: “Recognize that none of the residents chose to be in a nursing facility. [This is] an opportunity for us to give to our residents- it is our responsibility to give back”.

Monyette Trezevant
2007 Employee of the Year
“They saw more than just a plain old security guard” was Monyette’s response when discussing her recent promotion to Chief Operator. Monyette decided to switch from an on-call position to a full time position 6 years ago after witnessing the caring and loving atmosphere at Stella. “The warm family setting, my fellow employees are pleasant to work with.” Her advice to new employees at Stella, “Everyone has a family they love dearly. Whomever you come in contact with [here], treat them as if they were a part of your family. No matter what your job title is, you are important to Stella Maris”.
