Hospice Care Program

Hospice is a specialized program for terminally ill persons and their families. Choosing hospice care can be one of the most difficult decisions you and your family will face. As one of the first hospice programs in the Baltimore area, we have walked this path with thousands of families, and we will walk it again with yours.

Rather than focusing on curative measures, the goals of hospice are directed towards the patients’ comfort, alleviation of pain and other symptoms, and support for the family. Through hospice, we strive for maximum quality of life for the terminally ill by providing spiritual, mental, emotional and physical care to the patient, their loved ones and other caregivers.

One of the benefits of hospice is that it can be provided anywhere—a home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. Stella Maris Home Hospice Care covers a wide geographic region including Baltimore City, Baltimore County and parts of Harford and Carroll Counties. We have also made arrangements with a number of nursing facilities to provide hospice care to residents when the family so desires. In addition, we have a 20-bed inpatient hospice unit at Stella Maris with private rooms, family areas, a country kitchen, a childrens' play room, an outdoor deck, and sleep-over facilities for families.
