Stella Maris provides housing services for seniors at St. Elizabeth Hall, which consists of 200 independent living units. St. Elizabeth Hall provides a safe, comfortable and welcoming apartment community for seniors 62 or older or disabled persons, and offers social, spiritual, educational and supportive services. Funded by a grant from the Federal Government, 50% of the apartments are available for residents who qualify for Section 8 subsidies.

Apartments include:

  • Wall to wall carpeting
  • Individual balcony
  • Individually controlled electric heat and air conditioning
  • Emergency call systems in bathroom and bedroom
  • Smoke detectors and sprinklers
  • Cable TV

Other amenities:

  • Social Activities: bingo, cards, entertainment, dinners, trips
  • Dining Facilities
  • Coin-operated laundries on each floor
  • Security Service
  • Gift Shop
  • Elevators
  • Access to services at Stella Maris by a covered walkway:
    • Chapel
    • Beauty Parlor/Barber Shop
    • Occupational & Physical Therapy
    • Social Work
    • Outpatient Medical Service
    • Adult Day Care

St. Elizabeth Hall offers residents two meals daily and the option of congregate living services for those in need, including personal care and housekeeping services. Currently there is a waiting list that varies between 4 to 7 years for unsubsidized apartments and 2 to 3 years for a subsidized apartment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant is 62 years of age or older or handicapped or disabled
  • Applicant is able to care for self and apartment or obtain resources to provide necessary supportive services
  • Applicant is able to fulfill all lease requirements
  • Appropriate household size including Live-in Aide* for designated unit

*Live-in Aide is a person who resides with resident and who is determined essential to the care and well being of the person.

Application Process

  • Obtain and return the application to St. Elizabeth Hall Office
  • Each application is placed on a waiting list according to date of application.  Waiting time depends on:
    • Category of apartment selected
    • Financial category
    • Federal preference status
  • As application nears top of waiting list, applicant is:
    • Visited by staff person
    • Receives a follow up meeting at St. Elizabeth Hall
  • Admissions Committee reviews documentation and determines eligibility
  • Applicant receives notification of acceptance or rejection.
  • Name is placed on a waiting list
