Connect to Stella Maris: Ways to Give

“Please accept the enclosed check…Thank you for all the wonderful things you do to assist families through a very difficult times in their lives. We hope this donation can assist you in continuing your outstanding mission.” Friend of Stella Maris Hospice patient.

Your gifts to Stella Maris help us to continue to provide competent, compassionate care to all that come through our doors. You should also know that making charitable gifts often has substantial tax benefits for you, the donor. You can give through the following:

Gifts of Cash: You can make a gift of cash and receive an income tax deduction according to the IRS regulations currently in force. You can also pledge a gift over a three to five year period. This could allow you to make a more substantial gift spread out over a number of years, and allow you to time your gifts to achieve the maximum tax benefit. Gifts or bequests should be directed to Stella Maris Inc.

As a member of the Circle of Mercy, you will join a very special group of benefactors who, through their generous gifts, have demonstrated their dedication to Mercy Health Services and Stella Maris. Those who have joined The Mercy Society or The McAuley Society, as well as those in The Founders Society (cumulative gifts of $100,000 - $499,999), The Cornerstone Society (cumulative gifts of $500,000 - $999,999) and the Visionary Society (cumulative gifts of $1 million or more) enter the Circle of Mercy and receive special recognition for their commitment to our mission.

You can participate in the Mercy tradition and help us move forward by joining The Mercy Society. Through your annual gift of $1,000 or more, you and other Mercy Society members make a powerful statement that you share the vision of the Sisters of Mercy and value the mission of Mercy. Your gift can be directed to one of three specific areas:

  • Mercy Medical Center
  • The Center for Women’s Health & Medicine
  • Stella Maris

The McAuley Society recognizes individuals who have included Mercy Medical Center and Stella Maris in their estate plans or who have established life income gifts.

Planned Giving

By making a donation through a planned gift, you create a legacy of support for Stella Maris, all the while providing for your own future as well as for that of your beneficiaries. If you are interested in finding out more about planned gifts – bequests, annuities, charitable remainder trusts, etc. – please contact us in the Stella Maris Development Department: 410-252-4500

ext. 7268 or email us.

Matching Gifts

Many companies encourage charitable giving from employees by matching their personal contributions. Please check with your company to see if a matching gift program exists.

Honor/Memorials

By memorializing a loved one with a gift to Stella Maris, you ensure that the memory of that person lives on. This memorial is sincerely appreciated by Stella Maris, and gives comfort to the family. At Stella Maris, a gift made in someone’s name in the amount of $1,000 or more will enable you to have an engraved “leaf” on the Tree of Life in the Main Hall at Stella Maris. The Tree of Life is a beautiful reminder of the person you wish to memorialize.

Stella Maris is also grateful for gifts made in honor of a loved one’s anniversary, birthday or other important occasion.

When you make a memorial or honor gift, an acknowledgement card will be sent immediately, without reference to the amount of the gift. This is a convenient and thoughtful way to remember a loved one and how much you care.

Regardless of the option you choose, a gift to Stella Maris furthers the tradition created by Catherine McAuley, the first Sister of Mercy, who dedicated her life and fortune to the needs of her community. As we continue to grow and reach out to more in our own community in Baltimore, your support enables us to continue building on the quality of Mercy.

If you would like to make a gift, a printable donation form is here. For more information or to discuss a gift with a member of the development team, please call us: 410-252-4500 ext. 7268 or email us.
