Activity Calendar Information

Activities are very important in maintaining quality of life which includes independence, enjoyment, physical, cognitive, and emotional fitness.  In addition, participating in activities tends to give people the chance to engage in socialization and to feel like they are helping others.  People enjoy sharing past experiences and talking about what is meaningful to them now and what was important to them in the past.  Participating in activities is more difficult when people are not able to communicate and participate as they once could.  When we plan activities we keep all limitations in mind.  Every person is different and we plan activities based on their individual activity needs. We are aware that some people would prefer to be in large groups while others are more comfortable in small groups or even on a one to one basis.  The activity schedules on each unit take this into consideration.  We have something for everyone.

The calendar has some listings that are general such as exercise activity, cognitive activity, sensory activity, and creative activity.  Most activities fit into more than one category.  Every activity that is planned has many purposes.  Below you will see a list of some of the activities that fall into these four categories and their purposes.
